It’s Friday, 9th August 2019 and I am at Freemasons’ Hall for the start of Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL). My camera is set for an exciting evening of capturing the start of a fast paced photography session. Africa has so many different countries. AFWL is showing us One Africa which has come to London to show us the many creative ways of showing fashion at its best. Below is just a selection of the many images that I have captured with the other photographers who were also present.
AFWL has been hosted each year in London since 2011. What you have just seen above is a few of the exhibitors who will be also presenting items on the catwalk. What follows now is the catwalk shows for Friday. The designers’ names are under each of the images. Enjoy the African inspired fashions.
There was an interlude after the first show. What follows are images of the exhibitors, the guests using the various backgrounds available for taking images inside and images that I captured outside.
And finally back to the fashion show for Friday evening with the two hosts for the evening shown below.
Ronke Ademiluyi is the founder of AFWL and came out to explain more about the Ile Moremi collection.
As can be seen it was a good evening for capturing the images with the camera and freezing the models as they moved about. My lens was set at F2.8 for the close up subjects and F4 for the distant subjects. Any corrections that needed to be done to lighting was processed by software.
