Leyton Carnivals 2018 and 2017
The Leyton Carnivals of 8th July 2018 and the 1st July 2017 will be covered in this blog.
The summer of 2018 was hot and dry. For the carnival I decided to use a compact digital camera that could zoom from 24 mm to 1200 mm. The carnival procession was not going to take too long so I was not worried about the battery being exhausted with the continuous zooming in and out. ISO 80 was set on the camera and I waited at Leyton Orient Football club for the carnival procession to pass by.
The majority of costumes were worn by children. Several images of the 2018 carnival are shown.
After the carnival procession the next venue was the Leyton Cricket Ground. Amusement was provided in the grounds for the evening.
For the 2017 Leyton Carnival I used a digital SLR camera with an 18 to 55 mm digital lens (27 to 82 mm – 35 mm equivalent). I followed the carnival procession so I needed a camera that responded quickly to the press of the shutter and the ability to zoom in and out by simply twisting the barrel of the lens. ISO 100 was selected and I moved around and captured the event. The results are shown.
With the compact digital camera I took a good view point and zoomed in and out to select what I wanted to capture with the camera. With the digital SLR I moved around the subjects and quickly zoomed in and out to capture the subject before it had passed by me.
