London New Year Day Parade 2018
After seeing in the New Year at Church I decided to go into London for the New Year Day Parade. The Houses of Parliament was being renovated so a good location was required to minimise the view of the scaffolding.
In the foreground is Westminster Bridge with the Houses of Parliament in the background. It is good to capture other images whilst travelling to your location.
After crossing Westminster Bridge I saw the following and it was crowded. Turn up on time if you want to choose your spot to take pictures from. I pressed through the crowd and picked a good location to capture the images. Look for a good background when taking pictures. If you are limited to where you can stand do the best to avoid taking pictures with a distracting background.
Take as much images as you see necessary and decide which ones are for viewing.
Include a crowd shot to show what was going on in your surroundings.
You can always crop an image later on if the background is too distracting.
Zoom in where necessary. It will mean less time at the computer cropping the images.
The motor bike stunt is blurred because the shutter speed was set too low. If the day is cloudy increase the ISO to capture fast events and move it back to a lower level after that event. Plan ahead quickly!
The toilets in the background are distracting but it cannot be avoided.
Below are selections of images that I have cropped to represent my view of the event.
I finished off the evening by travelling to Alexandra Palace to take a picture of the City at night.
I have captured the images and composed the images by cropping where necessary. Where it was not easy to crop I completed on the computer. The planning fell apart because I did not get to the event early.
