Easter –Jesus Christ

by T Stone April 21, 2019 1 Comment

What is Easter? This is the Christian remembrance of the crucifixion and arising of Jesus Christ from the tomb over 2000 years ago. He lives!

During His time on Earth He made an impact which is covered in the Book called the Bible.

From this Book have a look at The Gospel According to St. Matthew. A copy of this Book can be found at this site http://www.davince.com/download/kjvbible.pdf . Here are some quotes from the Bible with images that I have taken whilst in Jamaica. I will include other information and images from other places.

Matthew 4:18 – 21          “{4:18} And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. {4:19} And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men. {4:20} And they straightway left [their] nets, and followed him. {4:21}”

Matthew 6:9 – 15             {6:9} After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. {6:10} Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done in earth, as [it is] in heaven. {6:11} Give us this day our daily bread. {6:12} And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors. {6:13} And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen. {6:14} For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you: {6:15} But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

Jesus Christ spread the good news (Gospel) of the Kingdom of God and He was crucified. This is remembered on Friday which is called Good Friday. The Roman Catholics had a tradition of not eating warm blooded animals on Friday to remember the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. Fish is cold blooded and can be eaten in place of meat.

The tradition of offering baked goods to deities was a pagan tradition. The tradition made it to England as the hot cross bun. The cross on the bun signifies the crucifixion. This was also consumed on Good Friday. When the British captured Jamaica the bun tradition followed.  Jamaica has added to the tradition with the bun and cheese over the Easter weekend. Mix one part ting with 3 parts sorrel to wash down your bun and cheese 🙂 .

The following three images above shows the sun going down in Negril on Good Friday and the appearance of the full moon. The sky was clear so the moon and all the stars could be seen in the night sky. It was wonderful. Easter does not have a fixed date like Christmas does in England. Easter is celebrated after the 20th March when the first Paschal (Passover) Full moon occurs for Western Christianity.

He is risen. Jesus is the light of the world.

Matthew 28:1 – 3             {28:1} In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first [day] of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre. {28:2} And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. {28:3} His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

I visited Rome and saw Churches which looked good on the outside and the inside. The Church is the place of worship for Christians. See if you can attend one this Sunday.

Matthew 28:18 – 20        {28:18} And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. {28:19} Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: {28:20} Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, [even] unto the end of the world. Amen.

You can find a church in every part of the world. Jamaica has more Churches in the island than any other part of the world. This is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records for 2014.

Here are a few designs and wonderful colours for the western side of Jamaica.

Make Jesus Christ a new beginning in your life today.
