Coronavirus was declared as a pandemic and the way forward was for everybody to stay at home all over the world. On the 25th May 2020, George Floyd was arrested by the police in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA and a police man kneeled on his neck for just under 9 minutes and he died.
The whole incident was captured and posted on social media. The good people of the world had a chance to review this issue and came out and protested all over the world. The AmericanVirus exposed the mistreatment that has been happening to black people and protests were held all over the world to let people know that this is not an isolated incident.

Black Lives Matter is not just a saying. It is pointing out to everyone that statistically black people are most likely to come out the worst than others when dealing with people in authority. This is because justice for all is actually INJUSTICE for black people all over the world. Injustice means that there is a lack of fairness and justice.

Protests related to Black Lives Matter have been happening every weekend to emphasise the fact that it was time for a change and not just another protest to show our anger. In London, England the 13th June Black Lives Matter protest was moved to the day before due to counter protests.

I attended on the 13th June which saw a lot of violence which I stayed out of due to social distancing rules. That weekend would usually have had the Trooping of the Colour for the Queen’s Birthday and the World Naked Bike Ride . These events were cancelled due to Coronavirus.

The police and national news captured a bird’s eye view of the event for crowd safety and news.

One thing I noted about this event was that statues were being protected. The statues commemorated people who had links to slavery or racism. After the protests I captured more images of people before they drifted away from the event.
In London there was no need to call out the National Guard as was the case in the USA but there was a significant police presence.

The good people of the world have turned out to protest about injustice. A strategy for the removal and the protection of statues was put in place extremely quickly by the governments of the USA and England.

The good people of the world have taken a risk to come out and say that we elected you as the government to ensure that justice is for all. Do not meet with the concerned parties and write a report two to five years after the event and then carry on as normal.
