It was a Saturday night at Africa Fashion Week London (AFWL), 10th August 2019 and Shingai Shoniwa was on stage. After the final Designer presented her outfits the singer Shingai brought the 9th edition of AFWL to a close. It was a very energetic presentation on the stage which entertained everybody and the seats were filled for the evening.
Ronke Ademiluyi founded AFWL in 2011 and its aim is to present African Designers established and up and coming to the world. During AFWL on Saturday there was a section called African Leaders. Ronke came on stage to describe leaders in different causes in the various countries of Africa who deal with Sickle Cell Awareness, Bullying, Mental Health, African Unity and many more issues. Concern was shown for the youth and they came on stage with the phrase “youth can too”.
There were three fashion shows on Saturday whose images are presented below. Once again amazing fashions were shown by the designers whose names appear below the images. Below is the final show on the catwalk for the evening.
Just before the final show I captured images outside of the guest, designers and presenters. They all look quite stunning.
Below is the first show for the Saturday afternoon followed by an interlude and the first show for the Saturday evening. What you are seeing is African inspired fashions. Enjoy.
My lens was set at F2.8 for the close up subjects and F4 for the distant subjects.
