For Black History Month there was the return of Africa Fashion Week London. Black is always in fashion and the same can be said about our history. This event was held on Saturday, 9 October 2021 at Freemasons’ Hall, London, England. Africa Fashion Week London was founded by Ronke Ademiluyi in 2011. It is a fashion event promoting African and African-inspired designs in Europe.
I was there for the start and captured the fashion designer Mary Martin entering the venue and the Mayor of Camden who gave the opening remarks for the start of the event.
Inside the venue there were exhibitors at stalls around the venue with fashion garments for the visitors.
A Jewellery-Making Workshop was run by Anita Quansah.
Whilst this was going on the lovely models and their support staff were getting things ready for the evening fashion show.
It was not limited to exhibitors. There were various panel talks which started in the afternoon and continued into the evening.
There was a Graduate Fashion Show by the University of Northampton.
After the Graduates Fashion show there was a talk on Future Design & Entrepreneurship by Dr. Adeyinka Adewale – Henley Business School and Christopher Kirwan – Professor, Parson’s School of Design & Technology.
I could not forget the visitors and other events that was going on outside. Visitors came from as far as Brazil.
The main event for the evening had finally arrived. Below are some of the images of The VIP Fashion Show.
Africa Fashion Week London was a wonderful day for Black History Month.
